Course Description

Sogetsu Ikebana expresses the beauty and elegance of nature through a transformation of living materials into a work of art. In Japan, ikebana – or flower arranging – has been perfected and elevated to an art form. Bring nature and humanity closer together. Students will be introduced to the traditional principles and aesthetic disciplines, combined with creative energies to capture, express and enhance natural beauty. Using fresh or dried branches, leaves, and flowers, students create new and differently styled arrangements each week. Students should bring vessels, shears, pin-holders and plant materials or you can purchase some plant materials from the instructor for a nominal cost.
