from all directions

splintering the moon

across snow.

 

All the king’s horses and …

Where are the kings now?

 

Tip the throne,

shred thorns

pierced deep into the mantle

that spill the rivers red,

in their wake

carry the sick away.

 

Deep inside embers

burning low to ash

we sleep.
