The 2020 pandemic brought a lot of sadness to me, my country, and the families impacted by the deaths of Covid-19. My sadness was deeply connected to my country, Brazil, the disregard its government has demonstrated towards life, and the lack of perspective it gave to Brazilian people. This same government was also associated with the death of Marielle Franco, an Afro-Brazilian political leader executed on March 14, 2018. I have translated my sadness into a portrait that I dedicate to Marielle’s memory.
