Bali Moon: Richard Jacobs Paintings and Monotypes

June 19 to September 9, 2019

Curated by Lisa A. Banner.

The monotypes on view at the Hammond Museum and Japanese Stroll Garden are part of an ongoing series called Leaves of Bali. These monumental pieces and the smaller paintings that accompany them are an exploration of the meaning of the Moon, which features large in the culture of Bali. Created in February 2019 during the Lunar New Year celebrations, these multi-paneled monotypes explore the saturated colors of Bali and intrigue of the changing sky. The Hammond Museum is pleased to show this brand new work for the first time in the United States.
